The new headquarters of The Hague police unit is located in the Binckhorst district. The building brings together police departments from four separate locations and is designed to accommodate approximately 2.200 employees. With more than 48.000 m² of floor space, it houses offices, laboratories, meeting rooms and shared facilities.
The project
The headquarters was designed by architectural firm cepezed. BAM Bouw en Techniek was responsible for construction. The building replaces the former headquarters on Burgemeester Patijnlaan and premises in Leiderdorp, Voorburg and Leidschendam.
The various functions are divided across three building sections. The lower floors accommodate street-level functions, the middle section houses parking and laboratories, and the upper section contains offices and spaces for meetings and collaboration. Atria and courtyards provide daylight, while roof gardens connect to the restaurant and shared workspaces.
The design meets the requirements for BREEAM Excellent. The layout allows for future changes: the offices can be reconfigured, and the parking levels can later be converted into office space.
Products supplied
BELPARTS supplied BAM Bouw en Techniek with more than 500 dynamx™ DXN6 6-port flow control valves for the police headquarters. These 6-port flow control valves (changeover) regulate the water flow and switch between heating and cooling. The flow rate can be set separately for each function.
